01. Convocation was on the 15th of August, and we had to make our way down to the convention center to be welcomed into university. We are the freshmen, the noobs, the new blood in school.
02. My best friend found me and we took some Polaroids. I am so happy that we will still have each other somewhere new. This will be our 7th year together in the same school.
03. On the last day of Rotaract Camp we had to bring smiles to the faces of strangers. I thought it was amazing (and pretty fulfilling) watching the transformation on someone's face when he or she smiles after being stony-faced.
04 / 05. We also had to give houses new coats of paint for houses during the camp.

Aw you're not noobs! XD You're just the new kids. I'm glad you're still with your best friend! I was split from my best friend a lot in high school - we were just in different classes - and now we go to different universities, but we still keep in touch.
ReplyDeleteWe have some old polaroid cameras in the garage but I never bothered checking them out. Perhaps it's time!
Sounds like the camp was fun - I'd love to get dirty painting houses. I rarely do that kind of thing. XD
I remember you graduated in December. Have you been out of school this whole time? I know a guy in Singapore and he told me the school year is January - October, or something like that. You wear uniforms in university?
ReplyDeleteAha I'm going to have to disagree with Georgie because I'm the kind of upperclassmen who thinks freshmen are noobs ... no hard feelings!
So lucky you go to the same school as your best friend. I went to the same school as my best friend from grades 3 - 6.
Oh yeah, I've been on a super long vacation! :-) 8 months to be exact. The January-November school year is for primary, secondary and junior college students only. Polytechnic and university students have different school years and for uni students we start school in August and end when the summer (not that we experience the different seasons anyway) break comes we finish, too. Quite similar to what happens in the US, if I'm not wrong. And HAHAHAHA NOOO!!! Those are not uniforms! You're the second person to ask that! :-D Those are our personal formal attires, and we only look like we're wearing uniforms because we NEED to be in black and white for convocation! We're free to wear whatever we like on normal days and this will be my first time ever wearing home clothes to school. I've been in school uniforms for 12 years. Freedom at last, maybe? ;-)
DeleteOh, I see. So it's kind of like the Korean international students in my school. They're always so much older than the rest of us because their school year ends in December and they have to wait until August to start here! I think USA is the only country in the world that does not have uniforms in public schools!
Deletecute photos!!!
ReplyDeletethat painting one makes me smile haha. :)
i'm interested in reading some of your poems! is there anywhere I can find them? i see bone lace is not for sale.
These photos look so fun! Congrats on the start of your uni, I'm almost finished! Love your blog :)

I love Polaroid photos, I need to get some more film for my Polaroid, shame the film my camera takes now has stopped being reproduced and it so expensive :/ I love the moving image, that's cute :D
ReplyDeleteThankyou for the comment about the photos, I think I did capture rain in one of them, the 7th one (the second bigger one) when we were looking down onto the street, the whole day was really rainy and cold. :P <3
