When I was 15 a friend introduced lomography to me and we shared an imitation lomo ActionSampler 4-lens camera we named Jello Bob. It died horribly. Earlier this year in January an aunt and my cousin Desiree gave me a fisheye camera for my birthday. And after wasting an entire roll of film on my first attempt to use the camera I am glad to say that the second roll didn't go too badly. Still, some of the photos here are pretty dismal so...
These were taken when I was in Malaysia in April:
Stalker photo of one of my other cousins who was walking in front of me in the rain. My cousin is a very talent artist and her portfolio will soon be featured on Dear Wallflowers!

And I'm so excited because I am now a part of OF ZOOS's summer 2012 poetry workshop and about 9 of us will be learning about poetry together and sharing our poems every week until mid-August. Keep your eyes peeled for my thoughts and reflections on the workshop! Speaking of poetry, I shared a little snippet of my newest poem here in case you've missed it.
Congratulations on being part of the poetry workshop. These pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteDismal? No way! They look great! :D
ReplyDeleteWoah, I love the effects of your fisheye camera! I just use the standard lens that come with my camera, so all my photos are boring, haha.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on becoming a part of the poetry workshop!

This is the first time I've seen lomography! They turned out much more interesting than I would've thought! Regular photos are really boring now. Malaysia looks a lot like China for some reason, while Singapore doesn't look like what I had expected either. =(
ReplyDeleteThe poetry workshop sounds great! You get to be productive about something you love! Now I miss summer 2011, haha.
To be honest I don't like fisheye lenses at all - I think they make some photos look terrible and they aren't that attractive at all. But lomography in general is really interesting to me. I still adore old technologies when it comes to imaging and photography. :') I have used a film camera, and something about it is more beautiful than using a digital camera.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the poetry workshop! You're really lucky. <3
I love those photos! My friends went through a lomo phase too, but they never had a fish eye so I'm really loving how that turns out!
ReplyDeleteI'd tell you I hoped you'd enjoy that workshop, but I know you will, so I hope it's everything you wanted and so much more ! Sounds like an amazing opportunity too!
Thanks for following my blog! Following you back is a treat...I love poetry and writing too! I am a songwriter, poet and I love to write children's short stories! Haven't been published...but maybe someday!
ReplyDeletePRETTY.
